高轉化效率釀酒酵母VL6-48（(ATCC no.MYA-3666)因TRP1基因缺失而不能在Trp缺陷培養基中生長(cháng)。因此，TRP1基因可用作一個(gè)選擇標記。對該菌株，HIS3基因也可作為選擇標記。URA3基因作為標記，不推薦直接做克隆實(shí)驗，盡管該菌株是URA3基因缺陷(The URA3 gene on its chromosome is inactivated but not deleted, and thus unwanted recombination occurs at relatively high frequency between chromosomal URA loci and the URA gene on the vector)。
